Possible Causes
Heater element partially open or weak, Miswired heater after previous repair, Temperature set too low or in economy mode, Faulty temperature sensor reading high
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before accessing heater wiring.
- Confirm settings: Verify the set temperature is higher than current water temperature and that the spa is in STANDARD/READY mode, not ECON/SLP.
- Check heat indicator: On many Saratoga Spas, a heat icon or LED indicates when the heater should be on. If it never appears, the control logic may not be calling for heat.
- Inspect heater wiring: Ensure both heater leads are securely attached to the control pack terminals.
- Test heater element: With power OFF and wires removed, measure resistance across the heater. Compare to specifications; a very high or infinite reading indicates failure.
If the heater tests good but does not energize, the control board or sensor inputs should be tested by a technician.
