Possible Causes
Water temperature near freezing, Faulty temperature sensor reading too low, Control pack programmed freeze protection
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not shut off power to the spa in freezing conditions; freeze protection prevents plumbing damage.
Steps to handle ICE/IC:
- Verify actual water temperature: Use a thermometer to confirm if the water is near freezing. If so, allow the spa to run; this is normal operation.
- Check cover and insulation: Ensure the Strong Spas cover is properly seated and not waterlogged. Replace if heavy or damaged to improve heat retention.
- Inspect temperature sensor: If the water is warm but ICE is displayed, the temperature sensor may be reading incorrectly. Inspect and replace the sensor if needed.
- Confirm settings: Review the user manual for any adjustable freeze-protection settings and ensure they are appropriate for your climate.
When to call a technician: If ICE remains on with warm water and a new sensor, the control pack may need calibration or replacement.
