Possible Causes
Air lock after refill, Closed slice valve near heater, Severely restricted filter, Empty or very low water level
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker. Running a dry heater can cause serious damage.
- 1. Check water level: Ensure the spa is filled to the proper level above all jets.
- 2. Open all valves: Confirm that all slice/gate valves around the pump and heater are fully open.
- 3. Bleed air from heater: Loosen the union on the heater inlet or outlet until water flows steadily, then retighten. This purges trapped air.
- 4. Clean filter: Remove and clean or replace the filter to ensure adequate flow.
- 5. Reset and test: Restore power and monitor for dr. If it reappears quickly, shut power OFF and do not continue to run the spa.
- When to call a technician: If dr persists, the circulation pump may not be moving water through the heater, or the heater may already be damaged and should be inspected by a professional.
