Sundance Spas
Heat Creep / Overheating from Pump Operation
Spa frequently overheats in summer or when set to lower temperatures; water is warmer than set point.

Possible Causes
Long filtration cycles generating excess heat, Spa located in direct sun with dark cover, Temperature sensor placement near heater outlet, Continuous high-speed pump use
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Monitor water temperature to avoid unsafe soaking conditions.
- 1. Reduce filtration time: Adjust the Sundance control settings to shorten filtration cycles during hot weather.
- 2. Ventilate: Partially open the cover or use a floating thermal blanket to reduce heat gain.
- 3. Lower set temperature: Set the thermostat a few degrees lower than desired to compensate for heat creep.
- 4. Shade the spa: Provide shade to reduce solar heating of the cabinet and cover.
- When to call a technician: If the spa overshoots set temperature by a large margin, sensor calibration or control logic may need professional evaluation.
