Possible Causes
Water intrusion into pump motor, Shorted heater element to ground, Damaged ozone generator or CLEARRAY ballast, Cracked or wet control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not repeatedly reset a tripping GFCI. This indicates a potentially dangerous fault. Turn the breaker OFF and leave it off until the issue is identified.
- 1. Visual inspection: Open the equipment bay and look for obvious leaks, standing water, or burnt components.
- 2. Component isolation (for technicians): With power OFF, disconnect suspected components one at a time (heater, pumps, ozone/CLEARRAY) from the control board. Restore power briefly to see if the GFCI still trips. The last reconnected component before tripping is likely the culprit.
- 3. Dry out moisture: If there is minor condensation, allow the area to dry completely before retesting.
- When to call a technician/electrician: Diagnosing ground faults requires electrical testing equipment and experience. A professional should locate and replace the faulty component and verify safe operation.
