Possible Causes
Seized Pump 1 motor, Failed start/run capacitor on Pump 1, Loose wiring at Pump 1 terminals, Control board triac/relay failure for Pump 1
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI before touching the pump or wiring.
- Check for obstructions: With power off, try to rotate the Pump 1 motor shaft (at the rear fan or using a screwdriver in the shaft slot) to see if it is seized.
- Inspect wiring: Verify that Pump 1 wires are secure at both the control pack and the pump junction box.
- Capacitor check: Many Sunrise Spas jet pumps use an external capacitor. Look for bulging or leaking. Replace if suspect.
- Test operation: Restore power and try low and high speeds. If the pump hums but does not start, shut off power and replace the pump or capacitor.
