Possible Causes

Water temperature near freezing, Ambient temperature very low, Temperature sensor reading low, Freeze protection logic active in Tuff Spas control pack

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Do not shut off power to the spa in freezing weather unless it is fully winterized and drained.

  • Step 1 – Keep power on: Allow the spa to run in freeze protection mode. This circulates water to prevent plumbing from freezing.
  • Step 2 – Verify cover and insulation: Ensure the Tuff Spas cover is properly latched and in good condition to retain heat.
  • Step 3 – Check water level: Maintain proper water level so pumps do not draw air.

If ICE appears in non-freezing conditions, the temperature sensor may be faulty and should be inspected and possibly replaced.
