Possible Causes
Water intrusion in pump or heater, Shorted heater element in Tuff Spas heater, Damaged wiring insulation, Faulty GFCI breaker
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Do not repeatedly reset a tripping GFCI. This indicates a potentially dangerous fault.
- Step 1 – Disconnect loads: With power off, a technician can disconnect the heater, then pumps, from the control pack one at a time to isolate which component causes the trip.
- Step 2 – Inspect for moisture: Check the control pack, pumps, and wiring for signs of water leaks.
- Step 3 – Test heater: A shorted heater element is a common cause and will require heater replacement.
Because of shock risk, GFCI tripping issues should be handled by a qualified spa technician and/or electrician.
