Possible Causes

Combined chloramines from insufficient shocking, Biofilm in Tuff Spas plumbing, Dirty filter, Inadequate water turnover

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Use chemicals in a well-ventilated area and wear appropriate protection.

  • Step 1 – Shock heavily: Perform a high-level shock treatment to break down chloramines and organics.
  • Step 2 – Run jets: Run all pumps with air controls open for at least 30 minutes to circulate and off-gas.
  • Step 3 – Clean filter: Soak the filter in a spa filter cleaner solution, then rinse thoroughly.

If odor persists, drain, clean the shell and Tuff Spas cover underside, flush plumbing with a spa pipe cleaner, and refill with fresh water.
