Possible Causes
Overheating pump motor on Tuff Spas, Loose high-current connection at heater terminals, Failing control board component, Melted wire insulation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Immediately turn off power at the breaker. Do not continue to run the spa until the source is identified.
- Step 1 – Visual inspection: After components cool, open the equipment bay and look for discolored wires, melted insulation, or burn marks on the control board and heater terminals.
- Step 2 – Check pump motors: Smell near each pump; a burned motor will often have a distinct odor and may be very hot.
- Step 3 – Tighten connections: A qualified person can check and tighten heater and main power lugs.
Because of fire risk, any burned wiring or components should be replaced by a professional spa technician or electrician.
