Possible Causes
Failed USSPA circulation pump motor, Airlock in circulation line after draining/refilling, Blocked suction or return fittings, Clogged filter cartridges restricting flow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power at the breaker before removing filters or opening unions.
- Check water level:
- Ensure the spa water level is above all skimmer openings and suction fittings.
- Clean or bypass filters:
- Remove filter cartridges and rinse thoroughly with a garden hose.
- Temporarily run the spa without filters (for testing only) to see if P1 clears and flow improves.
- Bleed air from circulation pump:
- Locate the small circulation pump in the equipment bay.
- Loosen the pump union slightly until water seeps out to release trapped air, then retighten.
- Check pump operation:
- With power ON, feel the circulation pump housing; it should vibrate slightly and feel warm after running.
- If it is silent and cold, the motor may not be receiving power or is failed.
- Inspect wiring:
- Turn power OFF and verify that the circulation pump is firmly plugged into the correct output on the control pack.
- Replace pump if necessary:
- If the pump hums but does not move water, or is seized, replace the circulation pump with a USSPA-compatible unit.
