Possible Causes
Overheated jet pump motor tripping thermal protector, Seized pump bearings, Blocked impeller from debris, Loose or burned pump wiring at control pack
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power at the breaker before touching the pump or wiring.
- Allow pump to cool:
- If the pump has been running for a long time, allow 30–60 minutes for the motor to cool and then try again.
- Inspect pump and unions:
- Check for leaks at pump unions that could drip onto the motor.
- Ensure all slice valves are fully open to allow proper flow.
- Check for seizure:
- With power OFF, attempt to rotate the pump shaft via the rear fan or coupling.
- If it is stiff or locked, the pump bearings or impeller are likely damaged and the pump should be replaced.
- Verify wiring:
- Confirm that the pump cable is securely connected to the Pump 2 output on the USSPA control pack.
- Look for signs of overheating at the connector.
- Replace pump if faulty:
- Install a USSPA-approved replacement pump with matching voltage and amperage.
- Prime the pump by loosening the union slightly to release air, then retighten.
