Possible Causes
One or more temperature sensors out of range, Sensor wiring harness damage, Incorrect sensor type installed, Control board sensor circuit fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power at the breaker before handling sensors.
- Identify sensors:
- Locate both main temperature and high-limit sensors on the heater assembly.
- Inspect wiring:
- Check for damage, rodent bites, or loose connectors.
- Test sensors:
- With power OFF, disconnect and measure resistance of each sensor.
- Compare readings; they should be similar at the same temperature.
- Replace faulty sensor(s):
- Install USSPA-compatible sensors and route cables properly.
- Control board replacement:
- If sensors test good but SE persists, the control board sensor input may be defective and require replacement.
