Spa water is cloudy, foamy, or has a strong odor despite filtration.

Safety first: Avoid using the spa until water chemistry is corrected.

• Clean or replace filters:
  • Remove filters and soak in a filter cleaner solution, then rinse thoroughly.
  • Replace filters if they are more than 1–2 years old or show signs of collapse.
• Balance water chemistry:
  • Test pH, alkalinity, and sanitizer levels with a reliable test kit.
  • Adjust to USSPA-recommended ranges.
• Shock the spa:
  • Use a non-chlorine or chlorine shock to oxidize contaminants.
• Flush plumbing if persistent:
  • Use a spa pipe cleaner product before the next drain/refill to remove biofilm from USSPA plumbing lines.
