Possible Causes

Tripped high-limit sensor on Villeroy & Boch heater, Blocked circulation through heater manifold, Faulty high-limit temperature sensor, Control board misreading sensor input in Villeroy & Boch control pack

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before touching any components. Allow water to cool if it feels excessively hot.

  • Remove spa cover and let cool: Take off the Villeroy & Boch cover to allow heat to escape. Wait 30–60 minutes, then reset power at the breaker.
  • Check water flow: Ensure all jets and diverter valves are open to allow proper circulation. Clean filters thoroughly or run briefly without filters to confirm flow.
  • Inspect circulation pump: With power on, verify that the Villeroy & Boch circulation pump is running continuously when heating is requested. If it is noisy, hot to the touch, or not running, it may be failing.
  • Check for kinks/obstructions: In the equipment bay, inspect hoses to and from the heater manifold for kinks or collapsed sections that could restrict flow.
  • Examine high-limit sensor: With power off, locate the high-limit sensor on the heater tube of the Villeroy & Boch control pack. Check that it is firmly seated and its wiring is intact. If the sensor body is cracked or corroded, replacement is recommended.

If F2 returns repeatedly, the high-limit sensor or control board should be tested and replaced by a qualified spa technician.
