How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before attempting any work.
- Check water level and filters: Ensure proper water level and clean or temporarily remove filters to improve flow.
- Bleed air from heater: Loosen unions on either side of the heater tube to release trapped air, then retighten securely.
- Inspect circulation pump: Confirm that the circulation pump is running and not making unusual noises.
- Reset power: After correcting flow issues, turn power back on and monitor for recurrence of HL.
If HL returns quickly, the high-limit sensor or heater assembly may need replacement by a professional.
