Possible Causes
Seized or blocked jet pump 2, Incorrect pump amperage installed, Loose or burned connector at control pack, Faulty control board output for Pump 2
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Shut off power at the breaker before touching any pump or wiring.
- 1. Confirm which pump is affected:
- Use the topside controls to identify Pump 2 (often a booster or lounge pump).
- Note if it hums, clicks, or does nothing when commanded on.
- 2. Inspect Pump 2 physically:
- Open the equipment bay and locate Pump 2.
- Check that slice valves are open and that there are no kinks in the suction or return hoses.
- Try to spin the motor shaft by hand (power OFF). If it is stiff or locked, the pump is likely bad.
- 3. Check electrical connections:
- Verify the pump plug is fully seated in the Pump 2 socket on the control pack.
- Look for heat damage or corrosion on the connector.
- 4. Compare pump rating:
- Confirm the installed pump matches the amperage and voltage specified by Wellis for your model.
- Oversized pumps can overload the control board and trigger F5.
- 5. Test with pump disconnected (technician):
- With power OFF, unplug Pump 2 from the control pack.
- Restore power and see if F5 clears. If it does, replace Pump 2.
- If F5 remains, the control board may need replacement.
