Possible Causes
Failed compressor start/run capacitor, Faulty compressor relay on PCB, Open compressor winding, Overload protector tripped
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit. Capacitors can hold charge; discharge them safely before handling.
- Allow rest: If the unit has been cycling frequently, leave it unplugged for 30 minutes to allow the compressor overload to reset.
- Access compressor terminals: Remove the compressor terminal cover and inspect for burnt or loose connectors.
- Test capacitor: Discharge and remove the compressor capacitor. Measure capacitance and replace if out of tolerance or physically damaged.
- Check relay: On the main PCB, inspect the compressor relay for burn marks. If the relay does not click when the compressor should start, the relay or PCB may be faulty.
- Measure windings: With power off, measure resistance between compressor terminals. Open circuit indicates a failed compressor.
- Professional repair: If the compressor is defective, replacement and recharging must be done by a refrigeration technician.
