Possible Causes
Low refrigerant charge, Severely dirty evaporator or condenser coils, Faulty compressor, Blocked capillary tube or expansion device
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before cleaning or inspection. Do not open the sealed refrigeration circuit.
- Check operating conditions: Ensure room temperature is within the specified range and doors/windows are closed to reduce moisture load.
- Clean filter and coils: Remove and wash the air filter. Carefully brush and vacuum dust from both evaporator and condenser coils.
- Check for frost pattern: Run the unit for 20–30 minutes and inspect the evaporator. Uniform coolness or light frost is normal; no cooling or only a small iced section suggests low refrigerant or a restriction.
- Listen to compressor: Confirm the compressor is running (steady hum) and not cycling rapidly. If the compressor is silent while the fan runs, see compressor fault entries.
- Professional diagnosis: If cleaning and basic checks do not restore water collection, a technician must test for refrigerant leaks or a failing compressor.
