How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before tightening or adjusting components.
- Identify noise source: Run the unit briefly with panels in place, then remove the front/rear cover and run again (if safe) to localize the noise to the fan or compressor area.
- Check fan assembly: Inspect the fan blade / blower wheel for cracks or looseness on the motor shaft. Tighten set screws or replace the blade if damaged.
- Secure panels: Tighten all cabinet screws. Add thin foam tape between vibrating metal panels if necessary.
- Compressor mounts: Check the rubber grommets under the compressor. Tighten mounting bolts and replace cracked grommets.
- Replace noisy fan motor: If the fan motor emits grinding or squealing sounds, replace the fan motor assembly.
