Possible Causes

Defective evaporator NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from evaporator coil, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Faulty main control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the AEG unit before opening any panels. Sharp metal edges are present around the coil.

  • Locate the evaporator sensor: Remove the front or side casing to access the evaporator (cold coil). The evaporator NTC is usually clipped or taped directly to the coil tubing.
  • Check sensor mounting: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the coil surface. If it has fallen off, reattach it using aluminum tape or the original clip so it makes good thermal contact.
  • Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires back to the main PCB. Look for cuts, crushed insulation, or loose connectors. Reseat the plug on the PCB.
  • Test resistance: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to the ambient sensor if they are the same type. A reading of open circuit or 0 Ω indicates a bad sensor.
  • Replace evaporator NTC: If faulty, install a new evaporator NTC temperature sensor compatible with your AEG model. Secure it tightly to the coil.
  • PCB check: If the sensor and wiring are good but E2 remains, the main control PCB may need replacement. This is typically a technician-level repair.
