Possible Causes

Seized or mechanically locked compressor, Failed compressor start capacitor, Faulty compressor relay on main PCB, Shorted compressor windings, Low mains voltage or wiring issue

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit. High voltage is present around the compressor and capacitor. If you are not experienced with electrical testing, contact a technician.

  • Allow cool-down: If the unit has been running continuously, leave it unplugged for 30–60 minutes to allow the compressor overload protector to reset. Then try again.
  • Check supply voltage: Verify that the wall outlet provides stable voltage within the range specified on the rating plate. Avoid extension cords.
  • Inspect wiring to compressor: Remove the rear or side panel to access the compressor terminal cover. Look for burnt connectors, melted insulation, or loose spade terminals. Repair or replace damaged connectors.
  • Test start capacitor: If accessible, discharge the capacitor safely (short terminals with a resistor), then remove and test with a capacitance meter. Replace the compressor start/run capacitor if it is more than ±10% out of spec or shows signs of bulging or leakage.
  • Check compressor windings: With power disconnected, measure resistance between compressor terminals and to ground. Very low resistance or a short to ground indicates a failed compressor.
  • Professional repair: If the compressor is seized or windings are shorted, the compressor assembly must be replaced and the system recharged by a certified refrigeration technician.
