Possible Causes

Loose ribbon cable between display board and main PCB, Corroded or oxidized keypad connector, Damaged touch panel or buttons, Faulty main control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect from mains before opening the control housing.

  • Inspect control panel: Remove the top or front cover to access the control panel. Check for signs of moisture ingress or liquid spills on the keypad and display board.
  • Check ribbon cable: Locate the flat ribbon cable or harness connecting the display/control board to the main PCB. Reseat both ends carefully, ensuring they are fully inserted and locked.
  • Clean connectors: If you see oxidation, gently clean the contacts with isopropyl alcohol and a lint‑free swab. Allow to dry completely.
  • Test buttons: With the unit reassembled and powered, test each button. If some keys do not respond or the error persists, the control panel PCB may be defective.
  • Replace control panel: Install a new user interface / display board compatible with your AEG model. Transfer any seals or gaskets to maintain moisture protection.
  • PCB replacement: If a new control panel does not resolve E6, the main control PCB is likely at fault and should be replaced by a professional.
