Possible Causes

Drifted humidity sensor, Sensor contaminated by dust or chemicals, Incorrect sensor placement after service, Control board calibration fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing the sensor.

  • Clean sensor area: Gently clean the humidity sensor housing with a dry brush or compressed air. Avoid touching the sensing element directly.
  • Check placement: Ensure the sensor is located in the air stream, not pressed against insulation or metal surfaces.
  • Compare with external hygrometer: Place an accurate hygrometer near the intake and compare readings. If the AEG unit is off by a large margin, the sensor is likely faulty.
  • Replace humidity sensor: Install a new humidity sensor assembly and route wiring as original.
  • Calibration / board: Some models allow service calibration; otherwise, if a new sensor does not fix H1, the main control PCB may require replacement.
