Filter Change Reminder / Wick Filter Service Required
AIRCARE evaporative console humidifier displays CF and stops running even though there is water in the tank.

Possible Causes
Wick filter saturated with minerals, Wick filter clogged with dust and debris, Filter change timer reached service interval, Humidity output reduced due to restricted airflow through wick
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the humidifier from the wall outlet before servicing. Never work on the unit while it is powered.
The CF code on many AIRCARE console and pedestal humidifiers is a filter change reminder, not a failure. It indicates the wick filter has reached its service interval.
- Step 1 – Power down: Turn the unit OFF and unplug it.
- Step 2 – Remove water bottles/tanks: Lift off the water bottles or tank and set them aside on a towel.
- Step 3 – Access the wick filter: Remove the top housing or front grille per your AIRCARE model’s manual. Slide out the wick filter assembly from the base.
- Step 4 – Inspect the wick: If the wick is hard, brown, crusty, or has a strong odor, it must be replaced. Do not attempt to scrape off mineral deposits; this damages the wick.
- Step 5 – Replace the wick: Install a new genuine AIRCARE wick filter (match your model number to the correct wick, e.g., 1043, 1040, 1041, etc.). Ensure it is seated fully in the frame or tray.
- Step 6 – Clean the base: Wipe the reservoir and base with a soft cloth and a 50/50 white vinegar and water solution to remove mineral buildup. Rinse thoroughly.
- Step 7 – Reset the CF indicator: On most AIRCARE models, press and hold the Filter Reset or Reset button for 3–5 seconds until CF clears. If there is no dedicated button, consult your manual; some models reset automatically when power is cycled.
- Step 8 – Reassemble and test: Reinstall the wick assembly, replace the tanks, fill with clean water, plug in, and run the unit. Confirm normal operation and that CF is cleared.
If CF reappears immediately, verify you actually reset the filter timer and that the control board buttons are responding.
