Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dehumidifier before removing the bucket or accessing internal switches.
- Step 1 – Empty and reseat bucket: Remove the water bucket, empty it completely, and reinstall it firmly. Make sure it is pushed all the way in until it clicks or sits flush.
- Step 2 – Inspect bucket float: Many AIRCARE dehumidifiers have a float inside the bucket that rises with water level. Ensure the float moves freely and is not jammed by debris or scale. Clean with mild soap and water if needed.
- Step 3 – Check for magnet (if applicable): Some designs use a magnet in the float to trigger a reed switch in the unit. Verify the magnet is still in place and oriented correctly.
- Step 4 – Inspect bucket switch: With the bucket removed and unit unplugged, locate the bucket full switch or sensor in the bucket cavity. Check for broken plastic, stuck levers, or loose wiring. Gently press the switch lever to ensure it moves.
- Step 5 – Replace faulty switch: If the switch is physically broken or does not click, replace it with the correct AIRCARE bucket full switch for your model. Transfer wires one at a time to the new switch.
- Step 6 – Reassemble and test: Reinstall the bucket, plug in the unit, and power ON. Confirm that E5 is cleared and the unit runs.
If E5 persists with a known-good switch and properly seated bucket, the control board input circuit may be faulty and require professional service.
