Possible Causes

Actual room humidity above 80–90% RH, Humidity sensor exposed to direct mist from humidifier outlet, Faulty humidity sensor reading high, Condensation on sensor surface

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Keep the unit away from direct water spray. Unplug before moving or opening panels.

  • Step 1 – Verify actual humidity: Use a separate hygrometer to check room humidity. If it is indeed very high, the unit may be operating correctly.
  • Step 2 – Relocate sensor/unit: Ensure the humidifier’s outlet mist is not blowing directly onto the built-in humidity sensor or control panel. Move the unit or redirect airflow.
  • Step 3 – Dry condensation: If the sensor area is visibly wet, power OFF, unplug, and gently dry the area with a soft cloth. Allow several hours for full drying.
  • Step 4 – Sensor inspection: On dehumidifiers, access the RH sensor behind the front grille. Check for corrosion or damage. Reseat the connector.
  • Step 5 – Replace RH sensor if faulty: If HI remains even in a dry room (below 50% RH), replace the humidity sensor module with the correct AIRCARE part.

After sensor replacement, the display should show a realistic humidity value and automatic modes should function normally.
