Possible Causes

Recent power outage or brownout, Unstable line voltage, Control board waiting for user confirmation after power restore

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Ensure power is stable before operating. Avoid using damaged outlets or cords.

  • Step 1 – Confirm power stability: Check that other appliances on the same circuit are operating normally. Avoid running the unit on a heavily loaded circuit.
  • Step 2 – Reset the unit: Turn the power button OFF (if responsive), unplug the unit for 5 minutes, then plug back in.
  • Step 3 – Clear PF: On many models, pressing the Power or Mode button once will clear PF and allow you to reselect settings.
  • Step 4 – Re-enter settings: Set your desired humidity level, fan speed, and mode. Some AIRCARE units do not automatically restore previous settings after PF.
  • Step 5 – Use surge protection: To prevent future issues, plug the unit into a quality surge protector.

If PF appears repeatedly without actual outages, the control board may be misreading line voltage and could require replacement.
