Possible Causes
Tank cap valve stuck open, Damaged valve spring or seal, Tank not seated correctly on base, Debris preventing valve from sealing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and remove the tank. Mop up any spilled water to prevent slipping.
- Step 1 – Inspect tank valve: At the bottom of the tank, examine the spring-loaded valve. Press it gently; it should move and spring back, sealing when released.
- Step 2 – Clean valve area: Rinse the valve under running water to remove debris. If mineral buildup is present, soak the cap in vinegar and rinse thoroughly.
- Step 3 – Check valve seal: Inspect the rubber seal around the valve for cracks or deformation. Replace the cap/valve assembly if the seal is damaged.
- Step 4 – Verify base reservoir level: Ensure the base has not warped or cracked, which could affect how the tank seats and how the valve opens.
- Step 5 – Reinstall tank carefully: Place the tank straight down onto the base, avoiding tilting that could cause the valve to open prematurely.
If the base is cracked or warped, replace the base assembly to prevent recurring overfill and leaks.
