Possible Causes
Cracked water tank, Worn or missing tank cap gasket, Tank valve not sealing, Misaligned tank on base causing overflow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the humidifier immediately if water is leaking near electrical parts. Mop up any standing water to prevent slipping.
- Step 1 – Remove and inspect tank: Lift off the water tank and place it in a sink. Check for visible cracks or splits, especially around seams and handle areas.
- Step 2 – Check cap and gasket: Unscrew the tank cap/valve assembly. Inspect the rubber gasket or O-ring for cracks, flattening, or missing sections. Replace the gasket if damaged.
- Step 3 – Test tank seal: Fill the tank at the sink, install the cap tightly, then invert the tank. It should not drip from the cap area. If it does, replace the cap/valve assembly.
- Step 4 – Inspect base reservoir: With the tank removed, check the base for hairline cracks or warped plastic. Minor mineral buildup can be cleaned with vinegar; cracks require base replacement.
- Step 5 – Re-seat tank correctly: Place the tank back on the base, ensuring it is centered and fully seated so the valve opens into the reservoir without tilting.
If the tank or base is cracked, replace with genuine AIRCARE parts matched to your model; do not attempt to repair structural cracks with glue where they contact water.
