Possible Causes
Loose fan blade on motor shaft, Debris caught in fan, Cabinet panels vibrating against frame, Worn fan motor bearings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF and unplug the humidifier before inspecting moving parts.
- Step 1 – Check for external causes: Ensure the unit is on a level, solid surface. Remove any objects touching the cabinet that could vibrate.
- Step 2 – Inspect fan area: Remove the cover to access the fan. Look for loose screws, broken plastic, or foreign objects contacting the fan blades.
- Step 3 – Tighten fan blade: If the fan blade is loose on the motor shaft, tighten the set screw (if present) or push the blade fully onto the shaft until secure.
- Step 4 – Add padding to panels: If cabinet panels rattle, apply thin foam tape or rubber pads at contact points to dampen vibration.
- Step 5 – Replace motor if noisy: If the noise is a grinding or high-pitched squeal and the motor shaft has play, replace the fan motor assembly.
After reassembly, run the unit and confirm that noise levels are acceptable and there is no rubbing or contact with moving parts.
