Possible Causes
Moisture intrusion into keypad, Worn or cracked control panel overlay, Loose ribbon cable to main board, Failed user interface PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before removing the control panel.
- Step 1 – Dry the panel: If the panel is damp from cleaning or condensation, gently dry it with a soft cloth and allow several hours for internal drying.
- Step 2 – Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the control panel bezel and check that the ribbon cable is fully seated at both the keypad and main board ends.
- Step 3 – Look for corrosion: Examine connectors and the keypad PCB for corrosion or residue. Light corrosion can sometimes be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush.
- Step 4 – Replace keypad/UI board: If specific buttons never respond or the overlay is cracked, replace the entire user interface assembly with the correct AIRCARE part.
- Step 5 – Avoid liquid cleaners: In the future, clean the panel with a lightly damp cloth only; do not spray cleaners directly onto the controls.
After replacement, verify that all buttons respond correctly and that the display updates as expected.
