Possible Causes
Wick filter not changed regularly, Standing water left in tank and base, Insufficient cleaning of reservoir, Use of dirty or contaminated water
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF and unplug the unit before cleaning. Avoid inhaling dust or mold; consider wearing a mask if there is visible mold.
- Step 1 – Disassemble water path: Remove the tank, wick filter, and any trays or covers that contact water.
- Step 2 – Discard old wick: If the wick is older than the recommended interval or smells musty, replace it with a new AIRCARE wick filter.
- Step 3 – Deep clean reservoir: Fill the base with a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water. Let it soak for 20–30 minutes, then scrub with a soft brush. Rinse thoroughly until the vinegar smell is gone.
- Step 4 – Clean tank interior: Add a small amount of mild dish soap and water to the tank, shake vigorously, then rinse several times. For stubborn odor, use a vinegar rinse.
- Step 5 – Dry and reassemble: Allow parts to air dry, then reassemble with a new wick and fresh water.
- Step 6 – Maintenance routine: Empty and refill the tank daily, and perform a full cleaning at least weekly during heavy use to prevent odor recurrence.
Do not use bleach inside the unit unless the manual explicitly allows it, and never mix bleach with vinegar or other cleaners.
