Possible Causes
Unit not level, Loose internal mounting screws, Worn fan motor bearings, Compressor mounting grommets deteriorated, Ductwork transmitting vibration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before tightening hardware or accessing internal components.
- Level the unit: Place a level on top and adjust feet or shims so the dehumidifier is level in both directions.
- Tighten fasteners: Remove access panels and tighten all visible screws on the fan housing, compressor mounts, and cabinet.
- Inspect rubber mounts: Check compressor mounting grommets for cracking or collapse. Replace the Aprilaire compressor mounting grommets if needed.
- Isolate from structure: If ducted, add flexible connectors between the unit and rigid ductwork to reduce transmitted vibration.
- Replace noisy fan motor: If noise is clearly from the fan, replace the Aprilaire blower/fan motor.
