Aprilaire humidifier causes condensation on windows and walls

Possible Causes
Humidity setpoint too high for outdoor temperature, Outdoor sensor not connected in automatic mode, Humidistat located in poor location, Control bypassed or miswired
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No internal electrical work is required for basic adjustments.
- Lower setpoint: Reduce the humidity setting according to outdoor temperature (e.g., 30–35% when below freezing outside).
- Enable automatic mode: If using an Aprilaire automatic control, ensure the outdoor temperature sensor is connected and the control is set to Automatic mode so it can adjust humidity based on outdoor conditions.
- Relocate humidistat: If the control is in a damp area (kitchen, bathroom), relocate it to a representative location or use a return-duct-mounted sensor.
- Check wiring: Verify the humidifier is not wired to run continuously regardless of control (no permanent jumper across control terminals).
