Possible Causes

Fast-closing solenoid valve, High water pressure, Rigid copper line without hammer arrestor, Loose water piping near humidifier

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Shut off water supply before modifying plumbing.

  • Secure piping: Check that the water line feeding the humidifier is firmly strapped to framing. Add pipe clamps where needed to reduce movement.
  • Install hammer arrestor: Add a small water hammer arrestor near the humidifier solenoid on the supply line to absorb shock.
  • Reduce pressure: If household water pressure is above 80 psi, install or adjust a pressure-reducing valve on the main supply.
  • Use flexible tubing: Replace a long rigid copper run with approved flexible tubing to absorb some of the shock.
