Aprilaire dehumidifier displays F1 and will not start compressor

Safety first: Disconnect power before servicing. Refrigerant work must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician.

• Check airflow around unit: Ensure there is adequate clearance around the dehumidifier and that discharge and intake are not blocked.
• Inspect condenser coil: With power off, remove the panel and inspect the warm (condenser) coil for dust and lint. Clean with a soft brush and vacuum or coil cleaner.
• Verify fan operation: Restore power briefly and observe if the condenser fan runs when the compressor starts. If the fan does not run, replace the Aprilaire condenser fan motor or capacitor as applicable.
• Check ducting: If ducted, verify that the supply duct is not collapsed or undersized, which can trap heat.
• Professional service: If airflow and fan are correct but F1 persists, contact an HVAC technician to check refrigerant pressures and correct any charge or restriction issues.
