Possible Causes
Clogged air filter, Iced evaporator due to low room temperature, Low refrigerant charge, Failed compressor or compressor start components
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before cleaning or opening panels.
Steps to improve dehumidification:
- 1. Check room conditions: Ensure the room temperature is within the unit’s operating range (typically above 5–10°C). In very cold rooms, dehumidifiers are ineffective and may ice up.
- 2. Clean the air filter: Remove and wash the filter. Let it dry completely before reinstalling.
- 3. Inspect coils: Remove the cover and check the evaporator and condenser coils. Clean dust with a soft brush and vacuum.
- 4. Check for icing: If the evaporator is a solid block of ice, turn the unit off and let it defrost fully. Restart and monitor. Persistent icing may indicate a sensor or refrigerant issue.
- 5. Listen for compressor operation: When the unit is set to dehumidify, you should hear the compressor start (a deeper hum) in addition to the fan. If the fan runs but the compressor never starts, suspect the compressor start relay/PTC or compressor itself.
- 6. If coils stay warm and no water is collected: A refrigerant leak or compressor failure is likely. Contact an authorized Ariston technician for sealed system diagnosis and repair.
