Possible Causes

Blocked air filter or airflow, Severely iced evaporator due to low ambient temperature, Faulty high-temperature sensor or thermal fuse on compressor, Refrigerant system issue causing abnormal pressures

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety warning: Unplug the unit before cleaning or opening panels. Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigeration system yourself.

Steps to address E4:

  • 1. Check ambient conditions: Ensure the dehumidifier is used within the specified temperature range (typically 5–35°C). Operating in very cold rooms can cause icing and trigger protection.
  • 2. Clean the air filter: Remove the front filter and wash it with mild soap and water. Let it dry completely before reinstalling. A clogged filter can cause overheating.
  • 3. Inspect airflow: Make sure intake and exhaust grilles are not blocked by walls, curtains, or furniture. Maintain at least 20–30 cm clearance around the unit.
  • 4. Check for ice buildup: Remove the front or rear cover to view the evaporator coil. If it is heavily iced, turn the unit off and let it defrost completely (leave unplugged with panels open for several hours). After defrosting, restart and monitor.
  • 5. Inspect compressor thermal device (advanced users): With power disconnected, locate the compressor and its thermal protector/thermostat. Check for loose connections or signs of overheating. Do not bypass safety devices.
  • 6. If E4 recurs quickly: This may indicate a refrigerant charge or pressure issue, or a faulty temperature sensor on the compressor or discharge line. These require specialized tools and should be handled by an authorized refrigeration technician.

Do not: Attempt to add refrigerant, cut into copper lines, or bypass thermal protection. This is dangerous and voids warranty.
