Possible Causes
Blocked condenser coil, Dirty air filter, Failed condenser fan motor, Faulty discharge temperature sensor, High ambient temperature or poor ventilation around unit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before cleaning or accessing internal components. Surfaces near the compressor and condenser can be hot.
Steps to address E8:
- 1. Improve ventilation: Ensure the dehumidifier has at least 30 cm clearance on all sides and is not placed in a confined space or near heat sources.
- 2. Clean the air filter and grilles: Remove and wash the filter. Vacuum dust from intake and exhaust grilles.
- 3. Inspect the condenser coil: Remove the rear or side panel to access the warm condenser coil. Use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust buildup from the fins. Do not bend the fins.
- 4. Check the fan operation: With panels reinstalled and the unit powered, observe whether the fan runs at full speed when the compressor is on. If the fan is slow, noisy, or not running, the condenser fan motor may be failing.
- 5. Inspect discharge temperature sensor (if accessible): Some models have a sensor clipped to the compressor discharge line. Check that it is firmly attached and wiring is intact.
- 6. If E8 persists: A faulty fan motor, discharge sensor, or an underlying refrigerant/overheating issue may be present. Replacement of the fan motor or discharge NTC sensor should be done by a technician if you are not experienced.
