Possible Causes
Refrigerant leak in evaporator or condenser, Loose flare or braze joint, Factory charge loss, Faulty low-pressure sensor (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety warning: The refrigerant circuit is sealed and should only be serviced by certified refrigeration technicians. Do not attempt to repair leaks yourself.
Steps when EC appears:
- 1. Confirm airflow and filters: Before assuming a leak, ensure the air filter and coils are clean and airflow is unobstructed.
- 2. Observe coil behavior: With panels removed (and extreme caution), run the unit briefly. If only a small part of the evaporator gets cold or frosts while the rest stays warm, this may indicate low refrigerant.
- 3. Visual leak check: Look for oily residue on copper joints, which often accompanies refrigerant leaks.
- 4. Do not operate long-term: Running a dehumidifier with low refrigerant can overheat the compressor and cause permanent damage.
- 5. Call a professional: An authorized Ariston technician should locate and repair the leak, replace the filter-drier if necessary, evacuate the system, and recharge with the correct refrigerant and weight.
