Possible Causes
Overheated compressor, Faulty compressor overload protector, Defective PTC start device, Low mains voltage or wiring issue, Internal compressor failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit. Compressor terminals carry mains voltage; only work on them if you are competent with electrical safety.
Steps:
- 1. Allow cool‑down: If the unit has been running continuously, leave it unplugged for at least 45–60 minutes to let the compressor cool. Then reconnect and test.
- 2. Check ventilation and cleanliness: Ensure condenser coil and rear grille are clean and not blocked. Poor airflow can cause compressor overheating.
- 3. Access compressor compartment: Remove the rear or side panel to expose the compressor. Locate the overload protector and PTC start relay attached to the compressor terminals.
- 4. Inspect components: Look for signs of burning, cracking, or melted plastic on the overload and PTC. Ensure they are firmly seated on the compressor pins.
- 5. Electrical checks (advanced): With power disconnected, remove the overload and PTC. Test the overload for continuity; it should be closed at room temperature. A permanently open overload must be replaced. The PTC should show a moderate resistance (not 0 Ω or infinite).
- 6. Replace faulty start components: If the overload or PTC is defective, replace with Beko‑specified parts for your model. Refit them securely on the compressor terminals.
- 7. If E6 persists and compressor hums or does not start: The compressor itself may be seized or internally damaged. This requires sealed‑system service and usually professional replacement.
