Possible Causes
Low refrigerant charge due to leak, Blocked capillary tube, Faulty evaporator temperature sensor, Main PCB misinterpreting coil temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigeration system yourself. Refrigerant handling requires certification.
Steps:
- 1. Check ambient conditions: Ensure the room temperature is within the operating range. Very low temperatures can cause EC‑type errors.
- 2. Inspect coils: Remove covers and check the evaporator and condenser coils. Clean dust and ensure good airflow.
- 3. Observe frost pattern: Run the unit briefly and inspect the evaporator. If only a small section ices up or there is no cooling at all, this may indicate low refrigerant or a blockage.
- 4. Verify evaporator sensor: Check the evaporator NTC sensor mounting and wiring. Replace the sensor if readings are abnormal.
- 5. If EC persists with good airflow and a new sensor: A sealed‑system issue (leak, restriction, or weak compressor) is likely. Contact a qualified refrigeration technician for leak detection, repair, and recharging, or for compressor replacement.
