How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug before cleaning or opening panels.

Basic checks:

Check humidity and temperature: Use a separate hygrometer and thermometer. Dehumidifiers work poorly below about 10–15 °C.
Lower setpoint: Set the target humidity to a lower value (e.g., 40%) and run for several hours.
Clean filter: Remove and wash the air filter. Let it dry completely before reinstalling.
Clean coils: Vacuum dust from the evaporator and condenser coils.

Advanced checks (technician):

Check compressor operation: After running for 10–15 minutes, the compressor should be warm and the evaporator should feel cold. If the fan runs but the compressor never starts, suspect a control or compressor fault.
Look for frost pattern: Heavy ice on only part of the coil can indicate low refrigerant.
