Possible Causes

Overcurrent detected in compressor circuit, Failed compressor start relay or PTC, High-pressure switch open due to blocked airflow, Faulty main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit. Compressor circuits carry mains voltage and can store charge.

Basic checks:

  • Ensure proper ventilation: Keep at least 20–30 cm clearance around the unit. Blocked airflow can cause high pressure and trigger protection.
  • Clean filters and coils: Remove and wash the air filter. Vacuum dust from the condenser and evaporator coils.
  • Power reset: After cleaning, leave the unit unplugged for 30 minutes to allow internal pressures to equalize, then restart.

Advanced checks (technician recommended):

  • Inspect compressor terminals: Remove the side panel and check the compressor start device (relay/PTC). Look for burn marks or melted plastic.
  • Test start device: Replace the compressor start relay/PTC if it shows signs of overheating or rattles when shaken.
  • Check wiring: Ensure all compressor and fan connectors are secure.

Important: If E9 persists, the compressor or sealed system may be faulty. Sealed system work (refrigerant, brazing) must only be done by a licensed refrigeration technician.
