Possible Causes
Burned-out fan motor, Seized fan bearings, Obstructed fan blade, Faulty fan relay or triac on control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before working near the fan or motor.
Steps:
- Check for obstructions: Remove the front/rear cover and inspect the fan blade for debris or objects preventing rotation. Clear any obstructions.
- Spin test: Gently spin the fan blade by hand. If it is stiff, noisy, or does not coast freely, the motor bearings are likely failing and the motor should be replaced.
- Voltage test (advanced): With the unit carefully powered and controls calling for fan operation, measure voltage at the fan motor terminals. If rated voltage is present but the motor does not run, replace the fan motor assembly.
- Control board: If no voltage is supplied to a good motor, the fan control circuit on the main PCB is likely defective and the board should be replaced.
