Dehumidifier makes loud rattling or grinding noises during operation

Safety: Unplug the unit before tightening or adjusting any components.

Steps:

• Identify noise source: Remove the cover and run the unit briefly (with extreme caution and exposed parts kept clear) to locate the source of the noise. Then unplug before touching anything.
• Check fan blade: Ensure the fan blade is firmly attached to the motor shaft. Tighten the set screw or clip if loose. Replace the blade if cracked or missing pieces.
• Compressor mounts: Inspect the rubber grommets under the compressor. Tighten mounting bolts if loose, but do not overtighten and crush the grommets.
• Secure panels: Tighten all cabinet screws. Add thin foam tape between vibrating metal panels if necessary.
• Re-test: Reassemble and run the unit to confirm the noise is reduced.
