How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Bionaire dehumidifier before removing any panels. Do not work on the unit while it is connected to mains power.
Steps to check and correct:
- Power reset: Unplug the unit for at least 5 minutes to discharge the control board, then plug back in and see if E1 clears.
- Inspect control panel connections: Remove the front or top cover (depending on model) to access the display/control PCB. Locate the ribbon cable or multi-pin harness going from the keypad/display board to the main control PCB.
- Reseat connectors: Gently unplug the ribbon cable and harness, inspect for bent pins or corrosion, then firmly reconnect. Ensure the locking tabs are fully engaged.
- Check for moisture damage: Look for signs of condensation or water intrusion on the control PCB and keypad board. If present, dry thoroughly and clean with electronics-safe contact cleaner.
- Test operation: Reassemble the cabinet, plug the unit back in, and attempt to power on. If E1 persists, the display/control PCB assembly is likely defective and should be replaced.
When to stop: If you see burnt components on the board or smell burnt electronics, do not continue using the unit. Replace the control PCB or contact a qualified technician.
