Possible Causes

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before cleaning. Avoid harsh chemicals that can damage plastic.

Steps:

  • Clean bucket: Wash the water bucket with warm soapy water and a small amount of white vinegar. Rinse thoroughly.
  • Clean filter: Wash the air filter and let it dry completely.
  • Access drain pan: Remove the cover to reach the drain pan under the evaporator. Wipe it with a cloth dampened with a mild bleach solution (1 tbsp bleach per quart of water). Do not soak electrical parts.
  • Dry interior: Allow the unit to air dry with covers off for several hours before reassembly.
  • Regular maintenance: Clean the bucket and filter monthly to prevent recurrence.
