Dehumidifier fan runs but there is a loud rattling or grinding noise

Safety: Unplug the unit before working near the fan.

Steps:

• Inspect through grille: Look for foreign objects (plastic, paper, etc.) contacting the fan. Remove any debris.
• Access fan assembly: Remove the rear/front cover to expose the fan. Check that the fan blade is firmly attached to the motor shaft.
• Tighten hardware: Tighten any loose screws on the fan shroud or motor bracket.
• Check blade condition: If the blade is cracked or warped, replace the fan blade.
• Motor bearings: If the noise is a grinding or squeal from the motor itself, replace the fan motor assembly.
